I don't just help you patent your Inventions…I help you make them!
I provide traditional patent prosecution services like most patent firms. This includes counseling on patents, patent strategy, and other possible means of protecting your intellectual property. It also includes invention discovery and elaboration, patent preparation and filing, and prosecution of patent applications before the PTO. Finally, it includes patent portfolio management including post-grant issues (not including licensing, assertion, or litigation; see note on right).
But in addition to these services, I am also pleased to act as a strategic advisor to my clients. With extensive experience in government, startups, consulting, and large software companies, I am able to assist my clients in thinking about why they invent, and how. Inventive activities can be planned and managed, and they can be aligned with your business strategies.
There are also techniques that can be used to accelerate the process of creating new intellectual property (a.k.a. inventing). My experience has shown that rather than treating patents as an unsavory afterthought, the core ideas of patent law can be used as a means of focusing your inventive staff on the desired future state.
All too often, technology-centric companies build a product roadmap, then specifications, then the actual product, and late in this process they apply for patents. This should be turned on its head. Using my "claimstorming" process, I help you capture your bold ideas for the future in detail. This process is quick and inexpensive, and always yields tremendous insights for your team. These insights can then focus the prototyping and roadmap.
In short, I practice Patents++™: Patent Legal Services, plus Strategic Consulting, plus service as an Innovation Catalyst to your inventive community.
